Services
Note : The needs of each project are determined in consultation with the client and may involve a combination of the services listed below.
- On Site Consultation : We are able to meet with clients to look at the issues that may relate to their heritage property and give advice regarding possibilities and processes for any ongoing management and future works.
- Heritage Reviews & Character Studies : These are often required for properties within Heritage Conservation areas, or Period Housing Precincts. A particular property may also be identified as a Heritage Item. The owner may be interested in the heritage of a property and implications for its future use. These reports can assist at the early stages of development, to ensure a sensitive and appropriate solution.
- Heritage Impact Statement : These statements are prepared for Development Applications involving identified heritage items which require local or state heritage approval. They include initial advice to be worked into the design of the project, as well as a statement of potential impact of the development.
- Conservation & Management Plans : These documents provide a detailed assessment of the historical significance of a heritage property, including historical research, detailed recommendations for future maintenance, conservation, appropriate adaptation and recommendations for statutory listings to afford a property the appropriate level of protection in the future.
- Design : While Integrated Design Associates often works as a consultant within a design team for the services listed above, we can also bring our architectural skills to a project and assist with the design of restorations, adaptation and modifications to a heritage property.

Macquarie House, Bathurst 2001
Macquarie House, adjacent to the Bathurst Historical Society Museum, dates from the 1840’s. Our project involved the restoration of the home for modern living, including the addition of a double garage, with loft over. The work was carried out to have the look of stables attached to the house. Special features included the use of old bridge timbers to span the large garage distances, and reused 1870’s bricks from Bathurst laid in a colonial bond to match the house.
The property, in conjunction with the Bathurst Historical Society Museum achieved State Heritage Listing after the work was completed.
Tahlee Estate, Port Stephens, CMP 1999
Tahlee is a property of National Significance listed by the Australian Heritage Commission and on the NSW State Heritage Register. Tahlee Estate, on the shores of Port Stephens was established in 1824 as the first settlement of the Australian Agricultural Company. It is also culturally important as a site of first contact with indigenous communities, and early co-habitation. The Estate has been associated with many significant Australian identities including, John Macarthur, Sir Edward Parry, Colonel Dumaresq, Captain Phillip Parker King, and Robert Hoddle Drieburg White. The grounds, with gardens dating from the 1840’s, were painted by Augustus Earle and Conrad Martens.
The Conservation Management Plan was the first full heritage analysis of the entire property, and was carried out with the assistance of landscape architect David Hazeldine.
Davisville:
Davisville built in 1881 is a typical mountains victorian weatherboard cottage that has been used as a home and guest accommodation over the years. The house had been rescued from potential demolition in the 1980s. The works were to restore the deck and to provide a sunny lounge.
